Broadening Their World View

The children from the Kindergarten classroom enjoyed a presentation by Marissa Mojado from the Soroba Band of Luiseno Indians.  She shared with the children her elaborate costume which is decorated with beadwork and embroidery.  She explained why she chose the symbol of the butterfly which dances from flower to flower.  She wound up the presentation with a dance performance.  This colorful, rhythmical, enjoyable experience broadened their world view.  Learning about other cultures is a way for the children to grow in tolerance and understanding.
